About

The Cardiff Romanticism and Eighteenth-Century Seminar (CRECS) was founded in December 2014. The aims of the Seminar are to support research and stimulate discussion into literary and cultural studies between 1680 and 1840. In addition to postgraduates and faculty members, we are keen to draw participation from undergraduates who might wish to engage with opportunities to learn more about the period beyond the curriculum, and perhaps into postgraduate study.

CRECS hosts a number of regular events throughout the year, and is complemented by associated seminars and conferences, to which CRECS participants are invited. CRECS events include traditional seminar presentations, reading groups, debates, screenings and excursions. While driven by a clear set of research principles, CRECS events are intended to present opportunities for lively and informal conversation and debate, in addition to the more formal events that run alongside them. More details are available in the Events section.
